Postgrad Scholarships

The Department will offer a number of scholarships to students wishing to study on post graduate taught masters programmes.

Scholarships for Queen Mary Students

The Department has a policy of awarding a scholarship of £2000 to students who apply to study for a materials-based master's degree from an emerging country. [This does not include the department's programmes in Technology Exploitation and Management (MSc and MBA)]

Eligible counties include:

  • Bangladesh
  • China
  • Cyprus
  • India
  • Iran
  • Malaysia
  • Nigeria
  • Pakistan
  • Sri Lanka
  • South Korea
  • Taiwan
  • Vietnam

In order to be eligible for these awards you must:

  • be classified as an international student for fees purposes
  • Apply for a master's programme in the Department of Materials by 31st August.

Please note:

  • There is no need to make a separate scholarship application. All eligible candidates will be considered on the basis of the information provided in their application form. You will be informed whether you have been awarded a scholarship when we make you an offer.
  • Candidates must not be in receipt of any other University scholarship or a full fees scholarship from any other source (e.g. The Chevening Scheme)
  • The scholarship awards will be deducted from tuition fees payable to the University
  • In most cases the University only awards partial scholarships and competition for these awards is intense. Students must be able to finance the remainder of their tuition fees and living expenses.
