Prize Day 2006
This year the annual Departmental Prize Day was combined with the Industrial Advisory
Board and the Postgraduate Poster Competition, to form the 2nd Annual Department
of Materials Industrial Liaison Event.
The Industrial Liaison Event took place on the 28th November 2006 and was held
in the newly refurbished Octagon. Below

The QMUL Innovation and Enterprise Best Poster Prize was presented by The Pricipal to Bo Yang (1st) and Rui Wang (2nd) |

Tao Liu wins two prizes: the Best Student Prize sponsored by the Armourers & Brasiers' Company and presented by Chris Waite. Tao Liu was also awarded the Drapers' Prize. |

Tong Li wins the Best Materials Student Prize, sponsored by Cookson and presented by The Principal |
Graduate Prizes

Matthew Ricks, Qian Tang and Monica Booth win the Drapers' Best Graduate Student Prize, presented by The Principal. Matthew also won the Department of Materials Best Intercalated Medical Student Prize |

Shazia Rehman was congratulated by The Principal for being short-listed for the IAESTE Trainee of the Year Award. |

Samuel Dean wins the Most Improved Student Prize, sponsored by Super Aguri F1 and presented by The Principal |
Postgraduate Prizes

Hongtao Zhang won the Best Poster Prize, sponsored by Avon Rubber. The prize was collected on Hongtao's behalf by Haixue Yan and presented by Martyn Bennett |

Other Notable Achievements

The Principal congratulated Julian Evans for being awarded the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) Kroll Medal - In recognition of significant contribution which has enhanced the scientific understanding of materials chemistry as applied the the industrial production of materials |

The Principal also congratualated Liz Tanner in recognition of her award of a Fellowship to the Royal Academy of Engineering |
