Thomas Young Centre Student Day 2020 Monday 24th February 2020 at King’s College London
Date: 24 February 2020 Time: 10:00 - 18:00
This year's Thomas Young Centre Student Day 2020 takes place at King’s College London and students from Queen Mary, King’s, UCL and Imperial are all encouraged to attend.
This year will be a great experience at the Student Day as it is aimed at inspiring students and postdocs, and encouraging you to think about the direction that your careers in materials might take, as well as hearing more of the interesting and varied work being done by your peers across London. It is an excellent chance for students to develop and hone presentation skills, and to network with colleagues from all four London TYC colleges.
Our guest speaker is Dr Robert Farr, from Jacobs Douwe Egberts presenting 'Soft Matter Challenges in Coffee Processing'.
Dr Robert Farr is an Associate Fellow at the London Institute and a Senior Scientist at Jacobs Douwe Egberts, UK. Dr Farr studied physics at the University of Cambridge, winning the Clerk Maxwell University Prize for physics. He was a Senior Research Scientist at Unilever and concurrently held a visiting appointment at the University of Nottingham. Dr Farr applies geometric ideas to materials science and classical physics, especially to multi-scale and fractal systems.
