PhD student training programme
Dates: 7-11 December 2020
Colleagues from the Materials Research Institute (MRI) will be delivering PhD student training between 7th and 11th December 2020 and we invite you to join this training. It's aimed at 1st and 2nd year PhD students, but is open to all who may benefit.
This year our training will be focused on methods and techniques that should provide a solid framework for your research activities as well as widen your knowledge base. More information including training schedule (attached) and the enrolment can be found in QMPlus https://qmplus.qmul.ac.uk/course/view.php?id=16178. Please use the self-enrolment option to join the module. As background to this, students are expected to undertake training throughout their PhD as part of their own professional development. In accordance with the QMUL Doctoral College (https://www.qmul.ac.uk/doctoralcollege/), in most schools each PhD student is expected to accrue 210 hours (points) of training by the end of their registration, with a minimum of 60 hours of "Domain A Knowledge and Intellectual Abilities". The MRI training may help you accrue hours in this domain, although please do check with your school and/or supervisor first.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions all training will be delivered online this year and will include online material (that will be made available in QMPlus) as well as live lectures delivered through MS Teams. It is therefore IMPORTANT that all students register by self-enrolling in QMPlus, so that the link to MS Teams group can be circulated.
Please contact Dr Andrei Sapelkin if you need any further information.
