Congratulations to our prize winning PhD Students in MRI! This year's prizes were awarded by Professor Yang Hao, Dean for Research in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and the Materials Research Institute's Interim Director, Professor Alan Drew.

Eugenia Pyurbeeva won the prize for best talk entitled 'Heat engines approaching the classical limit' and Miguel Rivera was runner up with a talk entitled 'Computational Methods for Photochemistry in Molecular Crystals: A Rudolph-Inspired Formulation'

Christina Kousseff won the prize for best poster presentation at this year's MRI Christmas Symposium with the runner up prize going to Qian Guo. They all will receive Amazon vouchers from the Materials Research Institute.

The standard of presentations and posters was exceptional again this year and we'd like to thank all of the PhD students who presented their research in such an engaging way and for taking the time to produce professional posters summarising their findings.

Thanks also to Materials Research Institute Research Fellows Dr Ana Jorge-Sobrido, Dr Christian Nielsen and Dr Jan Mol for organising this year's MRI Christmas Symposium.
