PhD Studentships

The Materials Research Institute is an initiative to bring together researchers in the Schools of Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry and Dentistry in order to better enable collaborative research in the materials area.  PhD students supported by an MRI scholarship will be based in two schools, and will interact with the wider materials research community within the College.  PhD students will be able to draw on the facilities and expertise that exists widely within the institute.

Key Requirements

Applicants for the PhD studentships will need to have a first or upper-second (2:1) class honours degree in a physical sciences subject.  The full award covers tuition fees and a tax-free annual stipend starting at £16,296 per annum, for a period of 3 years.  Studentships are available to both Home/EU and International students.

Available projects

The studentship round for 2018/9 enrollment has now closed and there is no funding available at this time.  Self/externally funded applicants are welcome to apply at any time of the year.  Please check on the website regularly for information about when the next round of scholarships will become available.
