PhD student wins London heat of Institute of Materials Young Person’s Lecture Competition 2018

PhD student Sabina Nicolae heat winner of IOM Young Person’s Lecture
Sabina Nicolae, a PhD student supervised by Materials Research Institute members Professor Magda Titirici and Dr Ana Jorge Sobrido, has won the London heat of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining Young Person’s Lecture Competition (YPLC) 2018. The YPLC invites students and professionals up to the age of 28 to deliver a short lecture on a materials, minerals, mining, packaging, clay technology and wood science related subject. Candidates competed in a series of heats organised by local affiliated societies of the Institute, from which six regional candidates were selected to compete in the national final.

The event was held on 1st of February 2018, at London Materials Society, and Sabina was selected from competitors from other London-based universities.

The 2018 YPLC final will be held on Wednesday 25 April at the Armourers’ Hall, London. We wish Sabina good luck in representing QMUL further in the competition.
